The client operates multiple education-focused websites delivering online workshops and learning programs. They had an existing WooCommerce setup and were actively selling workshops but wanted to evolve from a transactional model into a structured e-learning experience that allowed learners to access past workshops in a more organized, course-based format.
Over time, their ecosystem grew to five websites, each serving different audiences and purposes—creating both opportunity and operational complexity.
Client Journey
At the start, the client already had an established online workshop business running on WordPress. They reached out to WisdmLabs to plan and implement the next phase of their learning experience while keeping the overall customer journey familiar.
This first phase of the engagement focused on:
In short: the engagement began as a foundation build—designed to support long-term growth and smooth future upgrades.
The Challenge
As the platform evolved, several real-world challenges emerged:
We approached this engagement in phases, adapting the technical strategy as the client’s needs evolved.
1
We fixed it by: implementing LearnDash across 2–3 sites and building automation so every new WooCommerce product automatically creates the corresponding LearnDash course + lessons using product data.
So now: workshops could be sold as products while delivering a structured e-learning experience for past sessions.
2
We fixed it by: adding LearnDash certificate generation, membership customizations, listing pages for on-demand and upcoming workshops, BuddyBoss implementation, and related enhancements.
So now: learners had a clearer path to discover workshops, access content, and engage through a more complete learning experience.
3
We fixed it by: migrating the three active sites into two consolidated sites, converting LearnDash courses into Sensei courses, and migrating products, subscriptions, and memberships correctly (not one-to-one for LEN/PLS; data was distributed across target sites).
So now: the platform became lighter, simpler to manage, and ready for new feature development.
Result
This project wasn’t about a fancy redesign or “optimizing funnels.”
It was about making the whole learning setup less messy and more sustainable.
👉 Less manual setup for the team: workshops can still be created as WooCommerce products, but the learning structure doesn’t have to be built from scratch every time.
👉 A lighter LMS stack: they moved away from LearnDash because it felt heavier than what they needed, and switched to Sensei without losing the course structure.
👉 Fewer moving parts: five websites became hard to manage, so everything was consolidated into two clearer, easier-to-maintain sites.
👉 Access rules stayed intact: products, memberships, and subscriptions were migrated carefully, so learners didn’t suddenly lose access after the move.
Impact
And when we looked at the data, the improvements were clear.
less manual LMS setup
fewer learner access issues
faster workshop-to-course publishing
reduction in admin maintenance
