Making a Brand-New Finance Website Feel Like an Authority
For a finance audience this senior, the design has to earn respect before the words do.
Eighteen years of founder expertise — now ready for the digital stage :
Meet Forma Edtech, Ron Wysochansky’s teaching platform.
Ron has spent over eighteen years moving capital, across investment banking, advisory, private equity and operating roles in Fortune 1000 firms, ventures and startups. Forma is where he teaches it, corporate finance as a way to make decisions, not a set of formulas. The thinking was sharp. It just had nowhere to live online.
But don't take our word for how it landed.
The brief was ambitious. The verdict was simple.
The content was ready. Earning trust at first glance was the part nobody could shortcut.
When your readers judge before they read, the design carries the argument.
Starting from zero, a tidy, familiar layout was the easy option, but familiar would read as generic. And to a room full of senior finance leaders, generic gets forgotten. Forma had to feel closer to a publication they respect than software they skim.
- Deliberately chosen imagery
- A vision he could describe to the pixel
- Editorial experience invented entirely from a blank page.
The real question
The placeholder design read like generic consumer SaaS, and that was the one thing it couldn’t be. Forma sits at the meeting point of premium design and applied thought leadership. It had to feel premium, minimal, editorial, with every image chosen to mean something, not to fill a gap.
It all came down to 4 things we couldn't get wrong.
No site, no system, no precedent. Every layout and visual call had to be reasoned out from scratch.
Ron’s words and images were already set, and set on purpose. The work was to lift them, not relitigate them.
No SaaS blocks, no template muscle memory. One whiff of the generic and the trust is gone.
The brief was precise and well argued. There was no margin for “close enough” in the execution.
With the four needs locked in, this stopped being about designing a website, and became more about designing the impression Ron would leave.
Three moves turned a blank page into something that reads as authored.
Move 01
Your vision leads, and the design follows it.
Ron’s content and imagery weren’t hurdles to work past. We made them the anchors of the whole design. The question was never “what would we do instead,” but “how do we make what he built land harder.”
-
His intent, protected Each image kept the specific meaning he picked it for.
-
His voice, amplified The layout works for his positioning instead of fighting it.
-
No ego in the way Design served the founder’s vision rather than overwriting it.
Move 02
Dense ideas get room to land.
Conceptual material can suffocate on a cramped page. We broke it into clear sections and editorial layouts a busy executive can scan without losing the depth underneath, the way a good long-read carries weight without feeling heavy.
-
Scannable, not shallow Complex thinking laid out so it’s followed at a glance.
-
Reads like a publication Editorial pacing instead of a wall of product copy.
-
Authority by structure The way it’s organized signals expertise before you read a line.
Move 03
You end up with a site that feels authored.
Out went the predictable UI blocks. In came typography, white space and rhythm as the real structure, held together by one consistent component language so every page feels like it was written by the same hand.
-
Authored, not assembled Nothing on the site smells like a template.
-
One coherent world Nothing on the site smells like a template.
-
Premium in the details Restraint and spacing carry the sense of quality, not decoration.
From a cursor blinking on an empty page to a brand that looks like it has been around for years.
Translating founder clarity into reality
Every decision tied to brand intent
Premium editorial brand from inception
Iterative alignment with client vision
The proof wasn't a metric. It was that the site did its real job, signalling who he is.
A first impression that does the convincing for him.
functional, disconnected, generic
On time and on brief, all five months of it aligned to Ron’s vision and quality bar.
A founder happy with how responsive and flexible the process stayed across every round.
guided, branded, visible
An outcome that reads as truly bespoke, with no template feel and no borrowed patterns.
A site that tells a senior finance audience exactly who they’re dealing with, instantly.
