How Studio Sprout Moved Its Subscribers Off Uscreen Without Touching Their Grandfathered Prices
Rebecca built the store herself. Moving her subscribers was the risk.
It started with the rare brief that had already done half the work.
Studio Sprout, kids’ art lesson plans for parents and educators.
Rebecca Picker runs a California-based digital learning store where individual video lessons sell for $8 with perpetual access, alongside Monthly and Annual subscriptions (the Annual carrying 3 Bonus Lessons) and 12-13 lesson bundles. She’s precise and technically capable: she built the new WooCommerce store herself, then scoped the ask down to exactly the migration she couldn’t risk alone.
But don't take our word for how the handover went.
The review she left when it was done.
She’d already built the store. So what was left to solve?
Rebuilding the store was the manageable part. Moving live subscribers was the risk.
Around 450 monthly and annual subscribers ran on Uscreen with recurring payments already in Stripe. Their subscriptions had to be recreated in WooCommerce with matching cycles and prices, no overlap, no access gaps, and no passwords available to import.
- Subscriptions and renewals
- Lessons and bundles
- Original grandfathered prices
- Saved Stripe billing
- No double-billing
- No access interruptions
- No card re-entry
The real question
Rebecca’s requirement was exact: early subscribers’ original prices “must remain as it currently is for them.” The question was whether a platform switch could happen underneath live billing without a single renewal going wrong.
All in all, it came down to these 6 non-negotiables.
Around 450 active monthly and annual subscribers had to transition smoothly, with recurring Stripe payments preserved.
Subscriptions recreated in WooCommerce had to match existing billing cycles, with no overlap against older records.
Access to a live learning platform had to stay uninterrupted, so members never lost their content mid-move.
Passwords couldn’t be imported from Uscreen, so onboarding had to stay simple and manageable for subscribers.
Stripe transaction descriptions had to become clearer about product titles, bundles, and multi-product purchases.
Transactional emails had to sound and look like Studio Sprout, especially around subscriptions and accounts.
First the migration foundation, then the improvements that strengthen it.
A migration designed so nothing about it surprised a subscriber.
01 · The Groundwork
Knowing exactly what the move would touch.
The existing WordPress environment was reviewed end to end, confirming WooCommerce products and access rules were already configured on Rebecca’s build, and the available Uscreen user export data was evaluated in full. The plan moved forward on a clear picture of the platform and the data actually available for transition.

02 · Billing Continuity
Renewals that never noticed the switch.
We analyzed how existing Stripe subscriptions had originally been created through Uscreen, then recreated them in WooCommerce with matching billing cycles and prices, the grandfathered ones included. Safeguards covered the overlap risk: Uscreen-created subscriptions get disabled or permanently paused the moment WooCommerce takes over.
-
Cycles preserved Renewal dates and prices carried across intact.
-
Grandfathered prices held Early subscribers keep the deal they signed up on.
-
No double-billing Old subscriptions retired as new ones activate.
03 · Subscriber Experience
An onboarding that asks for one password reset.
With encrypted passwords impossible to import, a bulk user import workflow paired with password reset and activation emails brought subscribers in with minimal friction. Stripe transaction descriptions were made clearer for reporting and automation, and WooCommerce’s transactional emails were fully branded to Studio Sprout’s voice and identity.
