Purify Technologies helps organizations implement Office 365 and Microsoft Teams, delivering training and adoption content through a WordPress app their clients buy for full course access. As the client roster grew, including U.K. government work, the LMS needed tighter role control, clearer reporting, and plugins that behave across a multisite network.

The Client

A U.K. team teaching organizations to actually use Microsoft 365.

Helen Walker is part of the Purify Technology Team, specialists in helping organizations implement Office 365 and Microsoft Teams. Their clients run innovative, creative technology programs, they work with the U.K. government, and their biggest client is the Treasury. The team built a WordPress app delivering training and adoption content: buy the app once, and every course opens up.

In Their Words

The CTO's take on control done right

Here's what balancing access and safety looked like.

This project was a fun mix of tightening control and cleaning up the experience. Working inside a multisite setup always keeps things interesting, and making our plugins behave perfectly across the network felt like a solid win. The role-based restrictions and reporting tweaks were especially satisfying—giving group leaders just the right level of access without risking course integrity.

The Challenge

The platform worked. The permissions inside it were too open.

The LMS needed three controls: safer roles, clearer reporting, and a better-looking experience.

Group leaders could create or delete courses they should only edit, learner progress lacked an efficient management view, the reporting dashboard needed role-based visibility for admins, group leaders, and instructors, and the site’s look needed a lift.

The real question

Purify already ran WISDM Group Registration, Instructor Role, and WISDM Reports for LearnDash; the platform’s bones were solid. Could tailored customization give each role exactly the right access and visibility, and hold up across an entire multisite network?

The Non-negotiable

All in all, it came down to these 4 non-negotiables.

01

Group leaders had to be restricted from creating or deleting courses, keeping course integrity intact.

02

Group leaders and instructors needed to track and manage learner progress efficiently.

03

The reporting dashboard had to be visible only to specific roles: admins, group leaders, and instructors.

04

The website’s overall look and feel needed to become more visually appealing and user-friendly.

How It Got Guardrails

Every change balanced usability, control, and optimization together.

Scope the roles, sharpen the reporting, then make it all hold network-wide.

01 · The Role Control

Editing power granted, creation and deletion withheld.

The editing experience for group leaders was streamlined to show only relevant text and image content, clearing unnecessary blocks and clutter, while the “Add New” option was disabled, so leaders edit existing courses without ever creating or deleting one.

  • Only what matters Text and images, minus the clutter.
  • Add New removed Course creation kept out of reach.
  • Integrity held Courses editable, never destructible.

02 · The Reporting

Dashboards that show each role exactly what it needs.

One-on-one training covered the WISDM Reports for LearnDash plugin in depth: data calculations, tracked metrics, and monitoring learner performance. The Group Leader Dashboard was configured to surface essential reporting data and user-specific metrics with smoother navigation.

  • Trained, not just handed over Reports explained one on one.
  • Dashboard tuned Key insights where leaders actually look.
  • Metrics per user The right data scoped to the right role.

03 · The Polish and the Network

A cleaner interface, proven across the whole multisite.

Subtle UI refinements improved the site’s aesthetics while dashboard and site elements were fine-tuned for responsiveness across roles. The hardest technical stretch, full plugin compatibility inside a multisite environment, was resolved through careful adaptation and testing across the network.

  • Refined, not rebuilt Visual polish where users feel it.
  • Faster for every role Responsiveness tuned across dashboards.
  • Multisite proven Plugins adapted and tested network-wide.

From permissions too loose to a platform every role can trust.
