Features of Instructor Role for LearnDash
Course Creation Capability
An instructor can create and edit his/her own courses, but cannot view courses created by other instructors or the admin.
Lesson Creation Capability
An instructor can create and edit his/her own lessons, but cannot view lessons created by other instructors or the admin. An instructor can add lessons only to courses created by him/her.
Topic Creation Capability
An instructor can create and edit his/her own topics, but cannot view topics created by other instructors or the admin. A topic can only be added to a course/lesson created by the instructor.
Instructors can create paid courses and sell them using the WooCommerce add-on for LearnDash. Instructors can bundle and sell multiple courses as well.
As the site admin you have an option to award instructors commissions for courses they sell. When a student purchases a course by the instructor, the instructor receives a percentage commission.
Quiz Creation Capability
An instructor can create and edit his/her own quizzes, but cannot view quizzes created by other instructors or the admin. The instructor cannot view general settings associated with all quizzes.
Certificate Creation Capability
An instructor can create and edit his/her own certificates, but cannot view courses certificates created by other instructors or the admin.
Assignment Approval Capability
An instructor can view, edit, download and approve assignments of students enrolled for his/her course.
Email Students from the Admin Panel
An instructor has the option to directly email a student enrolled for his/her course, directly from the admin panel.
Course Report Generation
The instructor can view a report for courses created by him/her. The report contains details of the course, course status, shows total number of students enrolled for the course and course completion status. The report is displayed using a highchart.
Unlike a Group Leader, an Instructor has the capabilities to create Courses, Lessons, Topics, Quizzes and Certificates. An Instructor can approve assignments and view progress reports for created courses as well.
The primary difference is- Front-end Course Creation creates a user role Course Author- who does not have access to the back-end settings of your LMS. Whereas the Instructor does. The Course Author can create courses, lessons, topics and quizzes right from options provided under his/her BuddyPress profile. The Instructor on the other hand, can create courses, lessons and topics from the LMS back-end, using LearnDash settings.

To assign a course/lesson/topic to an instructor, kindly update the course/lesson/topic’s author and set it as the instructor.
Check whether the license has been deactivated. When the instructor role plugin license is not active, the instructor does not have access to LearnDash settings.
Yes, you can assign a commission percentage for each instructor. Every time a student purchases a course by an instructor, the instructor receives a commission on the purchase price.
No. Currently there isn’t an option to pay an instructor using the plugin. You will need to pay the instructor offline or using a service like PayPal. However, you have an option to maintain paid and unpaid earnings using the Instructor Role plugin.
