Online recruitment is an integral component of the employment procedure. Thousands of employers and employees are benefitted by convenient and organized job portals. It is the fastest platform where employers post job requirements and job seekers find job openings.

Job portals allow job seekers to customize their job search according to their choice and preference. It improves their visibility on the landscape of the recruitment spectrum. It also increases the chances of getting calls from a number of companies.

Employment largely relies on the quality of education. Employers are constantly in search of competitive talent and cultivated skills. That is the reason why recruiters are looking for a platform that would have a job portal integrated with a learning management system like LearnDash.

Recruiters want applicants to complete specific certifications to be eligible for the job. Applicants also want to showcase their profile by adding their accomplishments. Besides, the course providers want more and more students to enroll in their courses. Thus, integrating a job portal with LearnDash can work wonders for all these user categories.

Job Portal + LearnDash: How Will It Work?

Let’s see how our job portal would work when integrated with an LMS like LearnDash.

Like a regular job portal, the basic functionalities would include the following actions:

  • Employers post the job details and eligibility on the website
  • Job seekers register with the portal, create their profile, and apply to the jobs of their choices
  • Employers receive job applications and contact applicants who fit into their requirements

The integration of LearnDash into this system would essentially add another class of users: course providers. They can create several e-learning courses and make them available on the website for students. Course providers would become an important connection between the employers and job aspirants.

Therefore, this interesting functionality would be valuable to employers, job seekers, and online course providers as well. For example, a student successfully completes the course in android technology and becomes eligible for jobs as an android developer.

Primary Requirements of the system

Let’s select WordPress as a foundation of the website on which multiple plugins can be seamlessly incorporated to add all the necessary features. In our case, we would need the following plugins.

LMS Platform: LearnDash

Job Portal Plugin: WP Job Manager/Simple Job Board

Membership Plugin: MemberPress/S2Member

Several other plugins for Job listing and membership building are available for WordPress sites. You can choose the plugin which is suitable to your requirements.

Once the infrastructure is set, we can move ahead and elaborate the above scenario in the viewpoint of the key users of the system: Admin, recruiters, and students.

Admin Window

  1. The website admin or online course provider would add several courses to the LearnDash website and make these courses available as a product, to be purchased from the e-commerce shop of the website. The Admin would specify the course purchasing details like course description along with the price.
  1. The Admin would configure the job portal with appropriate features for employers and applicants. Employers would need features such as add, manage, categorize jobs, whereas applicants would need features like search/filter jobs, apply, track application status, etc.
  1. The Admin will be the central entity and have complete control over employers who want to post jobs and aspirants who want to look for jobs on the website.
  1. Recruiters and job seekers both would need to register with the website by paying the subscribed charges and then can start exploring!

Recruiters Window

  1. Employers once registered to the system, will be able to post a job listing to the website.
  1. In addition to the job listing, employers will need to add the prerequisites of that job position. In our example, the employers would specify the certifications required for an Android developer, like android technology beginner course or android technology advanced course. Courses mentioned as prerequisites should be available into your system’s course list.
  1. The employers would have a facility to view the students who are certified. For example, employers would be able to see the list of students who have completed the courses in android technology and have a valid certificate.
  1. Employers would also be able to cross verify the certifications of a particular student on receiving his/her application. They would contact the applicant if found suitable for the post.

Students/Applicants Window

  1. Registered students would be able to view the list of courses offered by the system and would search for a particular course of their requirement on the website.
  1. Students would enroll themselves to the course by completing the payment procedure. On completion, a certificate will be added to the student profile, which will be visible to employers.
  1. Students would also be able to view all the jobs listed on the website.
  1. They will be able to apply for a job only if they have completed the mandatory course. In our example, a student could apply to android developer job after completing the course in advanced android technology.

Summing up

Integrating a job portal with an LMS would be a single point of registration for job seekers and students. Students would get to know the prerequisites of jobs and add related qualifications to their profiles by taking courses right there in the same system.

It would also take the talent acquisition system to the next level. It would be convenient to locate and select qualified students for appropriate jobs. It would build a transparent and genuine employment system that would encourage knowledge gathering.

Overall, such a system would be convenient for all users concerned. Integrating a job portal with your e-learning website increases the scope of your services and can become a distinguishing feature of your e-learning institution.

If you have any questions or suggestions to add more features to this system, don’t hesitate to drop a comment!
